Gmail Workshop
Held a beginner's worshop on Gmail. My plan to make myself get more comfortable with gmail worked. By the time I had make up a handout I felt pretty confident. Then of course one of the people attending could not get her user name to fit in the box provided. We tried it on my computer and it worked. We finally had to get her a different computer to use. Not a great way to start a workshop but the others were setting up accounts so it worked out okay. I didn't have answers to all their questions but assured them I would get the answers. One I was able to answer right away. The other I still need to figure out. When we forwarded our mail from First Class to gmail the return address is our own address. We can't see who sent it and cannot reply except to ourselves. It must be something I have set up wrong in First Class. I will check with my fellow mentors. Maybe someone will know.

Swasey workshops
I had my first staff workshop this week. It was on getting student lists into the staff's new Premium Glogster accounts. I had two participants which was perfect for me since I am not that comfortable teaching my peers.
This week I am teaching "Getting started in Gmail." I expect a larger group and may ask for another gmail user to help out if it looks like I will have a large group. I spent a good part of today preparing handouts.
Teaching with the Swasey Peeps last year was so great because we had several people who were familiar with whatever we were teaching. With so many different technology levels among participants, it really helps to have a lot of hands.

Weekend in the outer banks of NC
I am having a lovely weekend in the the Outer Banks of North Carolina to plan my youngest daughter's wedding. Although today was hectic since we are cramming a lot of appointments into the weekend, the weather is beautiful, and we had time to hit the hot tub tonight. ( And even postt to this blog)
Like Lorie I am trying to use Google Mail so I can become comfortable enough to teach a workshop. I actually went ahead and put the notice out to the staff to force myself to be ready. Hopefully I No I have to find the time to get ready. I have been doing a lot of one on one with staff for other things and they are all so busy I do wonder if anyone will want to try Google Mail right now. Time will tell.
So now that I have fulfilled this obligation, I'll go back to wedding plans.

Today I start my first blog. I never really considered creating a blog since I do not feel comfortable writing down my thoughts for others to see. I've had a diary or journal from time to time but that was just for me. Why would anyone want to read my blog? I am not an expert at anything or have profound thoughts to share so deciding what to write took a long time. Finally I decided to write....
How I spent my summer vacation 2010
Babysitting my granddaughter
Visiting with friends and introducing Miranda to new friends.
